slow saturday mornings have a particular pull in kreuzberg, and charlottenstraße 1 puts you right in the middle of that unhurried rhythm. nano kaffee rösterei handles its own roasting, which means what ends up in your cup has gone through fewer hands and fewer middlemen than most places in the city. that matters. the regulars here aren't casual about it, and their loyalty to this spot is consistent enough that it says something about the quality without you having to take anyone's word for it. berlin has no shortage of places calling themselves specialty roasters, but not all of them actually roast, and fewer still hold the kind of standing this one has built. worth arriving before the weekend crowd does.
